CAEP, NCATE, TEAC Exploration

According to the website “The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) is the profession’s mechanism to help establish high quality teacher preparation.  Through the process of professional accreditation of schools, colleges, and departments of education, NCATE works to make a difference in the quality of teaching and teacher preparation today, tomorrow, and for the next century” (The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), 2014).  Establishing high quality teacher preparation programs through a “performance-based system” is the mission of the NCATE because they want to make sure that all teachers are qualified to provide students with an education.
The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) is another organization whose mission is to help high quality teachers.  The strategic goals of the CAEP is “to raise the bar in educator preparation; promote continuous improvement; advance research and innovation; increase accreditation’s value; be a model accrediting body; and to be a model learning organization” (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, 2015).  The CAEP mission is similar to the NCATE, however their goals are structured more around research-based evidence to prepare highly qualified teachers.
The Teacher Education Accreditation Council “is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving academic degree programs for professional educators, those who will teach and lead in schools, pre-K through grade 12” (Teacher Education Accreditation Council, 2014).  The TEAC goal is to prepare individuals to become “competent, caring and qualified professional educators” (Teacher Education Accreditation Council, 2014) and they are now a division of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
The education of children is one of the most important jobs that an individual can obtain which is why the NCATE, CAEP and the TEAC design and implement preparation programs that prepare individuals to become highly qualified professional educators.  These preparation programs are structured in a way that not only prepare individuals but they also continue to support those individuals throughout their career as an educator with programs that enhance their skills and abilities to increase their effectiveness as an educational professional.
